JOB FUNCTION: We are seeking a skilled CAD & SMT Programmer to join our electronics
manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible to generate programming data for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality PCB assembly production.
You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to develop accurate machine programs for pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, Solder paste inspection, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in PCB CAD and SMT programming within an electronics manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret Gerber files, Bills of Materials (BOMs), CAD data, and assembly drawings
- Proficient in industry-standard electronics manufacturing software tools (e.g., Valor, FabMaster)
- Solid understanding of SMT processes, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection
- Working knowledge of IPC standards, particularly IPC-A-610
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hands-on experience with offline programming stations
- Proficient in AOI/SPI programming, including systems such as Koh Young and TRI
- Strong understanding of PCB panelization and stencil design principles
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel)
- Generate and validate component placement data from Gerber files, BOMs, and CAD data
- Program and support AOI and SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) systems
- Troubleshoot SMT programming-related issues and support root cause analysis for production defects
- Collaborate with Process Engineering to provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback on new products
- Maintain accurate documentation of all programs, revisions, and setup instructions
- Maintain 5s activities on the production floor at all time
