The General Counsel, North America, is a senior executive role responsible for establishing, leading, and overseeing the legal function across Fii’s operations in the United States and Mexico.
The successful candidate will serve as the principal legal advisor to the North America CEO while maintaining close strategic coordination with the Fii General Counsel (HQ) to ensure alignment on legal strategy, risk management, and corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Legal Leadership
  • Build and scale the regional legal department; provide actionable legal counsel to support business expansion and operational excellence in North America.
Commercial & Manufacturing Operations
  • Lead the negotiation and management of high-value commercial contracts, supply chain agreements, and technology licensing, specifically tailored to the manufacturing sector.
Cross-Border Management
  • Oversee all legal and regulatory matters for US and Mexico operations, including labor, environmental, and business regulations.
Global-Regional Alignment
  • Act as the primary legal bridge between North American operations and the Global Legal Headquarters to ensure consistency in global risk management and corporate policies.
Litigation & Risk Mitigation
  • Proactively identify potential legal liabilities and manage regional litigation, external counsel, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Candidate Qualifications/Professional Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • At least 10 years in senior roles at a top-tier law firm or substantial in-house leadership experience within a global corporation.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, electronics, or technology sectors, with a solid understanding of factory operations and global supply chains, is preferred.
  • Experience working within Chinese/Asian multinational corporations is preferred.
  • Must be able to navigate complex matrix organizations and multicultural business environments.
  • Mandarin Chinese: Professional fluency (verbal and written) is preferred for effective communication with Fii HQ.
  • Spanish: Proficiency is preferred to support legal and operational matters in Mexico.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active bar membership in good standing. Membership in the California or Texas State Bar is preferred.
